Delete your DailyFlux account

This page deletes the account you use with DailyFlux (com.dailyflux.app) — the Android app, the web app at https://app.dailyflux.io, and the desktop app all share it. You do not need the app installed, and you do not need to sign in.

IN THE APP Settings → General → Danger zone Open DailyFlux, go to Settings, scroll to Danger zone and choose Delete account. You confirm with your current password and by typing the word DELETE.
ON THIS PAGE Request a link by email Enter the address the account is registered to. We email a confirmation link that is valid for one hour and can be used once. Nothing is deleted until you follow that link and confirm.

What happens, and when

  1. IMMEDIATELY Access is revoked Every device is signed out, and every third-party application you had authorised loses its access. Your data is not touched yet.
  2. FOR 30 DAYS You can change your mind Sign in with your password within 30 days and choose Restore account. Signing in on its own does not cancel the deletion — you have to press Restore.
  3. AFTER 30 DAYS The data is erased Erasure runs on a schedule rather than at an exact minute, so it completes within a day of the deadline. After that the data cannot be recovered.
  4. WITHIN 14 DAYS Backups age out Database backups are kept for 14 days and then deleted, so a copy can persist in a backup for up to 14 days after erasure. Backups are only ever used to recover the whole service from a failure, never to restore one deleted account.

What is deleted

Everything below is removed from the live database when the cancellation window closes:

  • Your profile: name, email address and password.
  • Your preferences and settings, including timezone and reminder defaults.
  • Tasks, including recurring tasks, subtasks, reminders and attachments to projects.
  • Projects, sections and labels.
  • Time entries and any time tracked against tasks.
  • Push notification subscriptions for every device.
  • Authorised third-party applications: their grants, access tokens and refresh tokens.
  • Your activity log and synchronisation records.

What is kept, and why

A small amount of information outlives the account. This is the complete list:

  • Backups, for up to 14 days — Database backups are taken daily and expire on a fixed schedule. Removing one account from a historical backup is not possible without destroying the backup, so deleted data ages out with it.
  • Server logs, for 15 days — Operational logs needed to run and secure the service. They record request metadata, not the content of your tasks.
  • Anonymised administrative records — If staff ever took a privileged action on the account — suspending it, for example — the record of that action is kept as a security measure. The account identifier is removed and the name and email address are stripped, so what remains does not identify you.
  • Records we must keep by law — Where a legal obligation requires us to retain something, we keep only what that obligation requires, for only as long as it requires.

Data on your own device

DailyFlux is offline-first, so a copy of your data lives on each device. Deleting the account wipes that copy on any device you are still signed in on. On a device you are not signed in on, uninstall the app (or clear the site data in your browser) to remove it.
